Frelick helps Brewers edge Braves in spectacular MLB debut

It was quite an introduction to Major League Baseball for Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick.

The Brewers’ No. 2 prospect made his debut Saturday against the Atlanta Braves and dazzled at the plate and in the field.

Frelick singled in each of his first three at-bats, including a game-tying RBI knock in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The 23-year-old also flashed his immense defensive potential with a pair of impressive plays in the top of the sixth.

Frelick first robbed Braves slugger Marcell Ozuna of extra bases with an incredible leaping grab at the right-field wall.

Just two batters later, Frelick leapt up again to take a hit away from Braves shortstop Orlando Arcia.

Frelick capped a memorable night with a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth to help the Brewers to a 4-3 victory.

Following the game, Frelick said the response he received from Brewers fans made his debut that much more special.

“I think these fans are unbelievable,” Frelick told Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal. “Walking out for the first time and getting such a warm welcome. And then going out and being able to give them something to cheer for is going to be super special.”

The Brewers drafted Frelick in the first round in 2021 after he enjoyed a stellar collegiate career at Boston College.
