Harper laments getting doubled up to end Game 2: 'I'll live with that'

Philadelphia Phillies superstar Bryce Harper was doubled up to end Game 2 of the NLDS on Monday after Atlanta Braves outfielder Michael Harris II made a sensational catch at the wall to rob Nick Castellanos of a potentially game-tying hit.

“Just taking a chance,” Harper said postgame when asked why he already rounded second base on the deep fly ball, according to Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer. “Michael made a great play and doubled me up. Tough way to end it.”

“I probably shouldn’t have gone over second base,” Harper added. “But I made a decision, and I’ll live with that.”

Braves third baseman Austin Riley, who hit the game-winning home run in the eighth inning, ended up throwing to first base to make the final out of the contest on the memorable play.

“The only reason I was in the position that I was is because I was screaming, ‘one,’ and momentum just kept pulling me that way,” Riley said. “And it ended up just being right spot at the right time.”

Game 3 is Wednesday at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. The clubs split the first two games of the best-of-five series.
