Miami Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcántara underwent Tommy John surgery Friday, he announced on social media. Here’s what you need to know:
Alcántara will miss the entire 2024 MLB season.
The Marlins placed Alcántara on the injured list with a right forearm flexor strain on Sept. 6, and an MRI later revealed he suffered a sprained UCL.
Miami shut the right-handed pitcher down for the remainder of the season on Sept. 23.
