Phil Nevin won’t return as Los Angeles Angels manager in 2024, the club announced Monday.
Nevin’s contract was set to expire at the conclusion of the 2023 campaign.
Angels general manager Perry Minasian is expected to return next season, according to ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez.
The 52-year-old led the Angels to a 73-89 record in his first full season at the helm. Nevin took over on an interim basis after the club fired Joe Maddon in June 2022. He finishes his tenure as manager with a 119-149 record over parts of two campaigns.
With Nevin’s tenure over, the Angels will look for their fifth manager in the last seven seasons.
The Angels have an important offseason looming, with AL MVP favorite Shohei Ohtani scheduled to reach free agency. Los Angeles hasn’t qualified for the postseason since 2014.
