Padres prospect Ethan Salas, 17, logs single in High-A debut: When could he reach MLB?

San Diego Padres prospect Ethan Salas made his High-A debut Wednesday with the Fort Wayne TinCaps, going 1-for-5 with a single in his third at-bat against the Lansing Lugnuts. Here’s what you need to know:

Salas, who turned 17 in June, became the youngest player ever promoted to the Midwest League since it became High A when the team made the move Tuesday.
Earlier this year, Salas made his professional debut with the Single-A Lake Elsinore Storm, becoming the first 2006-born player to debut in the minors. He slashed .267/.350/.487 with nine home runs in 48 Single-A games.
