Yankees' Rodon booed as he exits start with hamstring tightness

New York Yankees left-hander Carlos Rodon exited Sunday’s game against the Houston Astros in the top of the third inning with hamstring tightness, the club announced.

The 30-year-old was booed as he walked off the field at Yankee Stadium after he allowed five runs on three hits, including a pair of home runs before right-hander Jhony Brito took over.

Following the Yankees’ 9-7 loss, Rodon said he was taken out for precautionary reasons and feels confident he’ll continue to pitch, according to YES Network. The southpaw will undergo an MRI on Monday to rule out any injuries.

Rodon joined the Yankees on a six-year, $162-million contract this past offseason. He has battled through injuries, missing the first three months of the season due to back and forearm injuries.

The hurler has struggled since making his season debut on July 7, owning a 7.33 ERA and 1.52 WHIP with 25 strikeouts across six starts.
